COURSE OBJECTIVES:

The course will enable the students to-

  1. Gain knowledge about western art movements.
  2. Understand about Western philosophers and their art theories.
  3. State the relationship between art, philosophy and aesthetics.
  4. Be able to appreciate and criticize a work of art on the basis of its elements and principals.

The students will-

CO151: Build up an understanding of the aesthetics and its application in varied art forms.

CO153:  Assess the qualities of works of art in their historical and cultural settings through the use of theories given by aestheticians.
