Objective: 

COURSE OBJECTIVES: 

 

The course will enable the students to- 

 

  1. Observe, analyse, interpret a variety of subjects.
  2. Interpret the basic knowledge of drawing skills.
  3. Implement the knowledge of tint, shade, form and texture.
  4. Construct Denotative type of images.
  5. Implement varied media and methods in nature study.
  6. Exemplify and explore mediums –Charcoal, Drawing inks, Dry Pastels, Oil Pastels, Pencil/pen,  Photo colors, Water color,etc.

(Practical)

The students will -

CO27: Recollect  Fundamental theories and Principles of Art while learning sketching  through  outlining various types of plants  as well as through hands-on guidance and practices. 

CO28: Interpret the basic knowledge of Nature study.

CO29: Analyse and interpret the significance and characterization of a variety of different plants. 

CO30: Implement varied media, techniques and methods in Nature Study.

CO31: Construct denotative image of Nature.

 

Approach in teaching:

Interactive Lectures, Discussion on composition subjects, Tutorials, Videos, Demonstration, Reading assignments.

Learning activities for the students:

Sketching, layout , Self-learning assignments, Effective questions, presentation, Giving tasks, Field work, handling of various media and tools.

Semester end examinations, Continuous Assessment Test, Sketching, layouts,, Viva-Voice on display of artworks, layouts, sketches ,Solving problems in tutorials, Assignments, Presentation, Individual and regular submission of artworks.

COURSE CONTENT:

 

To study a plant with one side light source using shadow and cast shadow. Emphasis is placed on refining composition with cropping, overlapping and placement in the picture plane. 

 

Medium: Pencil, charcoal, pastel (dry/oil), pencil color

  • 5 works of Nature study in B/W / Colour
  • 5 sketches of study per day 
  • 3 home Assignments of Nature study
