Abhivyakti Ek Prayaas, a creative tradition spanning over a decade, has become a cornerstone of artistic expression at the Department of Fine Arts, IIS (deemed to be) University, Jaipur. The 21st annual exhibition, held at Jawahar Kala Kendra, Jaipur from February 13 to February 18, 2024, marked a significant milestone. The opening ceremony brought together esteemed guests, art enthusiasts, collectors, and members of the creative community. The event was inaugurated by Guest of Honour Shri Nathulal Verma, a prominent traditional artist who works in versatile mediums and is credited for keeping fresco paintings alive in recent times.
This annual showcase served as a connection between the imagination of young artists and the broader world, seamlessly merging their classroom experiences in creative expression with the rich tapestry of the arts. The exhibition featured works from various streams, including painting, sculpture, applied arts, printmaking, and photography. Abhivyakti presented a diverse range of art practices, incorporating experimental techniques and mediums explored by the students. A total of 177 students from BFA and MFA contributed approximately 2000 artworks to the exhibition.
Beyond its visual splendour, Abhivyakti provided a valuable platform for students to interact with the professionals of the art market. They learned how to exhibit artworks and to engage spectators in their works. They had the opportunity to interact with eminent art fraternities such as Sumit Sen, Vidhayasagar Upadhyay, Sangeeta, Satyajeet, Jagmohan Mathodia, Meenu Srivastava, I. U. Khan and many more, which helped them to look for a career in the art field. Suraj Pal Singh, a famous you tuber also visited the gallery and guided students in taking references of technology in the creation of artworks. Suvila Mathur, RAS officer and Secretary at Ravindra Munch, Jaipur provided the students of IIS University a chance to display their works without any charges for exhibition. This was a great opportunity for the students to present themselves during graduation.
This was a platform for students to sell their works which boosted their enthusiasm to pursue art. Some students were Aayushi Mukhija, Riya Jain, Prachi Choudhary, Archi Bhardwaj, Nupur Verma, Nehal Jain, Isha, Anmol, Gaurangi Samdhani. The platform improved their skills for gallery collaboration, preparation and presentation of artwork for exhibitions, and participation in jury processes which is a crucial element in building resumes and establishing themselves as practicing artists.
By offering the platform through Abhivyakti Ek Prayaas, IIS University helps students with the tools and opportunities to exhibit their work, skills, and creativity on the global stage, preparing them for a successful future in the field of art.
