Departmental Orientation August '24

The Department of Fine Arts had organized a Departmental Orientation for both undergraduate and postgraduate new batch 2024 on friday, August 30, 2024. The event was organized in Room No. E-503, Department of Fine Arts and started at 11.00am. This session was planned in order to familiarize the newcomers, batch 2024-2025 with the functioning of the department as well as make them friendly with their seniors at an informal level.

The program started with a traditional and warm welcome to all the faculty members and students with tika-moli. The program started with an activity conducted by senior students taking thumbprints of batch 2024-2025 on a canvas as a memory to be cherished.

Further the event progressed with a general introduction of the faculty and their subject specialization. Thereafter Ms. Manika Sharma and Ms. Sheetal Chitlangiya acquainted the students with the course structure and departmental facilities at the University. This was added by a power point presentation on the explanation of credit system, syllabus, time table, examination pattern of CA & Semester End, location of classes, student’s feedback form and a short discussion on the working of yearly exhibition “Abhivyakti ek Prayaas…” and various co-curricular activities. Thereafter, there was also a presentation on how to access the IIS digital library. There was a demonstration on the process of signing up for the digital IISU E-Library account and the way to search subject specific E-Books. Apart from teaching at graduate and postgraduate level, research was also talked about wherein the process, significance and plagiarism in thesis writing was taken into consideration. Also briefed the students about the career aspects of B.F.A and M.F.A. courses and how students should prepare themselves for placements after the completion of the course. Lastly a quick query session was held where students got the chance to express and clarify their doubts regarding their subject interests.

After the intensive session on curriculum it was time for some fun.  The senior batch students welcomed the newcomers with a dance performance. The seniors introduced each faculty member to the freshers with an act where they acted out a few incidents. This was really an interesting element for the faculty to watch too. It was followed up by a game of Heads up and Treasure Hunt. This fun session ends with a round of snacks and cold drinks.

The session was informative and was attended by the senior students and newcomers along with the faculty members of the Department of Fine Arts. The orientation session turned out to be very informative and motivating for the students. They surely had a takeaway message of staying positive and working hard to attain success in the field of Fine Arts.
