Departmental Orientation, August 9,2023

The Department of Fine Arts had organized a Departmental Orientation for both undergraduate and postgraduate new batch 2023 on Wednesday, August 9, 2023. The event was organized in Room No. E-503, Department of Fine Arts and started at 10.00am. This session was planned in order to familiarize the newcomers, batch 2023-2024 with the functioning of the department as well as make them friendly with their seniors at an informal level.

The program started with a traditional and warm welcome to all the faculty members and students with tika-moli. There was also a dance performance on the song “Swag se karenge sabka Swagat” by the UG students to welcome newcomers.

Further the event progressed with a general introduction of the faculty and their subject specialization. Thereafter Ms. Manika Sharma acquainted the students with the course structure and departmental facilities at the University. This was added by a power point presentation on the explanation of credit system, syllabus, time table, examination pattern of CA & Semester End, location of classes, student’s feedback form and a short discussion on the working of yearly exhibition “Abhivyakti ek Prayaas…” and various co-curricular activities like poster making competition, logo designing competition, slogan writing competition to name a few. Thereafter, there was also a presentation on how to access the IIS digital library. There was a demonstration on the process of signing up for the digital IISU E-Library account and the way to search subject specific E-Books. A discussion was held by the faculties present in the room related to digitalization of library books on their respective subjects. Apart from teaching at graduate and postgraduate level, research was also talked about wherein the process, significance and plagiarism in thesis writing was taken into consideration. Also briefed the students about the career aspects of B.F.A and M.F.A. courses and how students should prepare themselves for placements after the completion of the course. Lastly a quick query session was held where students got the chance to express and clarify their doubts regarding their subject interests.

The program ended with an activity conducted by senior students taking handprints of batch 2023-2024 on a canvas as a memory to be cherished. The session was informative and was attended by the senior students and newcomers along with the faculty members of the Department of Fine Arts. The orientation session turned out to be very informative and motivating for the students. They surely had a takeaway message of staying positive and working hard to attain success in the field of Fine Arts.
