Amidst the fear of what the future has for us, The Department of Fine Arts came forward and encouraged its students to participate in the ‘State Level Poster Making Competition on 'CORONA SE BACHAV' organised by Department of Art and Culture, Govt. of Rajasthan in collaboration with Rajasthan Lalit Kala Akademi, Jaipur’. Under the guidance of Mr. Shwet Goel and Ms. Sheetal Chitlangiya, 89 students of B.F.A were part of this and took it as their duty to change the situation by designing posters and spreading awareness of this new found virus, its prevention, Do’s and Don'ts.
COVID came as a game changer for everyone and in every aspect of life. It showed us a totally different side of what living in this era means. Tackling these challenges were difficult as it was completely new to everyone. Most important thing was to make people aware of what is happening, how to handle it and how to prevent it. The easiest way to spread awareness to all people irrespective of their place and education is a ‘poster’. It's a medium which combines both the visual and the witten matter, making it appealing. The posters created by the students targeted rural as well the urban areas of our society. In order for the people to properly understand the message being conveyed, the posters were created in different styles and languages. Some had a slogan in hindi whereas some were in english. Students used symbolic and realistic representation to convey their idea. A designer is the one who understands the prevailing situation, problem, the message to be conveyed and presents it in a desirable form covering all aspects. Based on her observation she decides how, when and where to communicate the message. Here the student’s creativity played a crucial role. Students used their power of imagination and tools to convey information to the common man in the simplest and most effective manner.
