Objective of the workshop/Seminar/Activity: To make the students aware of the changing trends in art and keep them in sync with artists' community for career opportunities.

Description:

Since antiquity it is seen that art serves didactic purpose. The students of Sem I, III,VI,IV and masters final year got this similar opportunity to learn through art by visualizing a number of art works exhibited at JKK Kala Mela on 8 Feb 2023. Students were accompanied by Ms. Ekta Sharma and Ms. Dimple Dalal. They noted newer techniques and materials used in paintings, sculptures and installations. Also, they got to know the relevance of mediums in representing themes of art works. 1st year students benefited the most through the visit as they got to see how ideas are represented through different art forms along with the process to do so. It was like opening the doors of art for them and to see their position in upcoming years of creativity. Furthermore, they interacted and interviewed a number of art dignitaries which enlightened them in their respective ways. They also learnt how paintings and sculptures are exhibited. While looking around they learned the ways to do installation art and ways to exhibit it. Renowned sculptor Himmat Shah's live demonstration overwhelmed students with his sculpting skills. Art Historian Jayram Poduwal shared his experience of art appreciation and criticism with focusing on the requirements of museums and galleries for a career in Museology and Archeology. 

While looking around students noticed the ways to place installation art works.  It was beneficial for applied students to interact with the company professionals  and learn the ways to present and sell their works. Various well-known artists from the country such Akilesh Verma from Bhopal,  Ram Gopal Kumawat from Baroda, Mukesh Salvi from Delhi,  Dileep Sharma from Bombay and many more gave live demonstrations in the camp helping students to learn contemporary ways to execute ideas. 

The visit turned out to be fruitful as the visit focused on learning the changing trends in art and skills to attain for achieving a prosperous career in art.
