Objective: 

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

The course will enable the students to-

  1. Gain an understanding of ancient art history.
  2. State the difference between Prehistoric caves of India and Europe.
  3. Read and analyse prehistoric art of India, Europe and Egypt.
  4. Ability to interpret the Prehistoric culture in the present day context.

Introduction to Ancient Art 

(Theory)

 

The students will -

CO23: Evaluate varied art periods and Cave Art of India, France and Spain to apply it in own art work to enhance in all respect.

CO24: Interpret the significance of cultural and historical context in informing the interpretation of art works.

CO25: Get the knowledge of the contribution of artists in turning and developing society and politics in India, Spain, France and Egypt. 

CO26: Analyse the formal, technical, compositional characteristics of artworks to assess the qualities of works of art.

 

Approach in teaching:

Interactive Lectures, Discussion, Tutorials, Reading assignments.

 

Learning activities for the students:

Self-learning assignments, Effective questions, presentation, Giving tasks.

 

Semester end examinations, Continuous Assessment Test, Quiz, Solving problems in tutorials, Assignments, Presentation, Individual and group projects, regular submission.

Introduction to the Prehistoric art of Europe- Cave of Spain: Altamira, La Pileta, El Castillo, La Pasiega, Tito Bustillo
