Objective: 

The course will enable the students to gain an understanding of the historical origins of world art history. Prepares to read and analyse paintings, sculptures and architecture created in various places of the world. Useful in understanding major monuments, artists, methods and theories and to assess the qualities of work of art in their historical and cultural settings.

CO49: Discuss and appraise pottery and sculptures of Greek Archaic Period considering its subject, material, style, features and techniques to identify the chronology and cultural meaning of the artworks discussed. 

CO50: Theorize and categorize the significance of classical period (Architecture, Sculpture and Painting) to analyze and compare artworks of various genres and periods.

CO51: Develop comprehensive understanding of the Hellenistic (sculptures and sculptors) to assess and classify style, meaning and the context of the works.

CO52: Compile architectural features of Roman art and appraise in terms of design, materials, and functionality.

CO53: Build a thorough understanding of the paintings, mosaics, catacombs, sculptures of early Christian art highlighting characteristics, components, style and aesthetics.

CO54: Contribute effectively in course-specific interaction
