Objective: 

The course will enable the students to demonstrate their visualizing skills, allowing them to compose proportional portraits within given spaces. They will also learn to sketch and construct identical characters accurately.

Head Study (Practical)

CO60: Construct identical characters by articulating face anatomy through sketches.

 

CO61: Prepare a portfolio displaying their observational skills based on female & male figure, features, head angle, positions, character of head and demonstrating tints, tones and shades.

 

CO62: Create a study of portraits from life displaying an understanding of the delineation of the structure, character of head, study of features, study of light and shade 

 

CO63: Defend the understanding of head study on the skill set developed and establish herself as a portrait artist.

 

CO64: Contribute effectively in course-specific interaction

Approach in teaching: Interactive Lectures, Discussion,

Ideation, Tutorials, Assignments, Brainstorming, Demonstration

 

Learning activities for the students: Self-Learning Assignments, Giving Tasks, Visualization, Experimenting, Sketching to Learn, Free Exploration, Focused Exploration.

Layouts & Sketches, Continuous Assessment Test, Semester End  Examinations, Daily Assignments, Observation, Student Teacher Interaction and Final Submissions

COURSE CONTENTS:

Sustained study of portrait from life, delineation of the structure, character of head, study of features, study of light and shade, composition in different settings, development of personal style (pencil/ pen/charcoal, oil pastels, poster colours, pencil colours, dry pastels, water colour, mix media)

 

Submission: 

  • 7 Plates (1/2 imperial)
  • 50 sketches of head study
