Objective: 

The course will enable the students to explain the functions of label and packaging and the factors that affect the designs. Evaluate the requirements for labeling and packaging in response to specific briefs and develop and present packaging prototypes to complement given products.

Label and Packaging (Practical)

CO23: Portray the key elements of a packaging composition including placement, product & audience and the needs of the client to plan label & packaging through layouts & sketches.

 

CO24: Create a portfolio depicting the understanding of marketing research, target audiences, and how user profiles affect the packaging design process & corporate identity and display their observational & design skills of labels, primary, secondary & tertiary packaging manually and digitally.

 

CO25: Appraise the label & packaging designs created in response to market needs and establish herself as a graphic designer.

 

CO26: Contribute effectively in course-specific interaction

Approach in teaching: Interactive Lectures, Discussion,

Ideation, Tutorials, Assignments, Brainstorming, Demonstration

 

Learning activities for the students: Self-Learning Assignments, Giving Tasks, Visualization, Experimenting, Sketching to Learn, Free Exploration, Focused Exploration.

Layouts & Sketches, Continuous Assessment Test, Semester End  Examinations, Daily Assignments, Observation, Student Teacher Interaction and Final Submissions

COURSE CONTENT:

Exercise 1: Students will prepare 2 labels for any product in accordance with the Regulations of concerned board

Exercise 2: Students will prepare 2 primary packaging in accordance with the Regulations of concerned board

Exercise 3: Students will prepare 1 secondary and 1 tertiary packaging.
