Objective: 

The course will enable the students to Learn the understanding of expression and facial identities. Process and exercises include the exploration of various mediums and techniques, detailed study of skull, character with understanding of proportions and facial features.

Portrait (Practical)

CO81: Delineate the structure of the person's portrait and study the character traits of the person's face in different mediums using shadow, light and global needs.

 

CO82: Prepare a submission demonstrating your development of skills in portrait, composition and preparation in the given medium.

 

CO83: Create art that reflects observation and exemplify it in different mediums, while taking account of creative qualities such as perspective, analysis and ingenuity.

 

CO84: Express the acquired skills of the person portrait through viva, of the model placed in the class

 

CO85: Contribute effectively in course-specific interaction

Approach in teaching: Interactive Lectures, Discussion,

Ideation, Tutorials, Assignments, Brainstorming, Demonstration

 

Learning activities for the students: Self-Learning Assignments, Giving Tasks, Visualization, Experimenting, Sketching to Learn, Free Exploration, Focused Exploration.

Layouts & Sketches, Continuous Assessment Test, Semester End Examinations, Daily Assignments, Observation, Student Teacher Interaction and Final Submissions

 

COURSE CONTENT:

 

Study of portrait from life, delineation of the structure and the character of head, study of features, study of light and shade, in monochrome and color (pencil/ charcoal and dry pastel, oil pastel, water colour)

                                                   

Submission:   7 works (1/2 imperial) in size

5 sketches of head study per day
