The students will - CO71: Develop deep understanding about the history and evolution of South and South East Asia. CO72: Analyze various art styles in art of South and South East Asia.to understand how history influences art. CO73.Understand major monuments, methods and theories to assess the qualities of work of art in their historical and cultural settings. CO74: Infer explanatory and analytical skills required to write on the Art of South and South East Asia. CO75: Effectively apply knowledge of South and South East Asia in critical writings. CO76: Distinguish between the works of each era with respect to their style and aesthetic so they can build conversations at museums, art galleries and art meetings. |

The course surveys developments in art and architecture in the region (excluding India) with particular emphasis on Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Cambodia, Thailand, and Indonesia. The objective is to understand ideological and artistic parallelisms in an Asian context, and also to examine the historical and cultural ties with India in terms of "inspiration," "dialogue," and "influence".
