The students will-

 

CO15: Demonstrate ability in drawing, translation of 3-D into 2-D space by applying perception and creating composition in contrast, black and white through geometrical shapes and form, positive and negative space.

 

CO16:  Create artworks by demonstrating problem solving thinking in systematic, conceptual and expressive manner.

 

CO17:  Interpret and apply fundamental elements and principles of visual organization in solving visual problems.

 

CO18: Elaborate knowledge of technical and aesthetic issues in their discipline to compose artworks reflecting shapes, textures, calligraphy and nature.

 

CO19: Experiment with colour theory and knowledge of primary, secondary, tertiary and complementary colors and their relationships to design compositions for market requirement.

CO20: Interpret letterforms, basic types, their formal aspects, proportion, and weight and inter relationship of positive and negative space for developing artworks.

COURSE CONTENT:

 

To develop an understanding of the elements and principles of design through various practical exercises .Study of two-dimensional space and its organizational possibilities; behavior of force and energy contained in line, form, color and texture; knowledge of primary, secondary, tertiary and complementary colors and their relationships. Introduction to the technical terms related to color theory. Introduction to the art of beautiful handwriting i.e. Calligraphy (Italic) . Study of letterforms, basic types, study of their formal aspects, proportion, weight and inter relationship of positive and negative space. Study of Gothic and Roman and Devnagri.

 

Submission:     2 assignments (Exercises with basic shapes and texture in relation to space)

                        6 assignments (Gothic and Roman and Devnagri)

2 assignments (Compositions based on studies from nature)
