Basic Design

The students will be able to-

CO9: Demonstrate ability in drawing: perception, translation of 3-D into 2-D space, composition through geometrical shapes and forms-composition in contrast, black and white, positive and negative space, tessellation.

 

CO10: Demonstrate problem solving thinking in systematic, conceptual and expressive manner.

 

CO11: Interpret and apply fundamental elements and principles of visual organization in solving visual problem.

 

CO12: Demonstrates knowledge of technical and aesthetic issues in their discipline.

Interactive Lectures, Discussion on composition subjects, Tutorials, Videos, Demonstration, Reading assignments.

Sketching, lay outing of composition, Self-learning assignments, Effective questions, presentation, Giving tasks.

 

Viva-Voice on display of artworks, Continuous Assessment Test, Semester end examinations, Quizzes, Solving problems in tutorials, Assignments, Presentation, Individual and regular submission.

COURSE CONTENT:

Fundamentals of 2D design examine the organizational principles common to all twodimensional art. In a series of practical assignments, students explore line, shape, scale, patternand other elements of design to achieve an awareness of form and appreciation of the way it cansuggest and amplify meaning of art.

Submission: Four exercises

Exam: - Theory – Fundamental of Visual Art 3 Hrs

Practical - Still Life (Composition) 5 Hrs
