Objective: 

The course will enable the students toConstruct the study with the step by step approach of building tones, colour, shades and learning to render portrait from the basic geometric patterns to the more detailed features in different mediums such as charcoal, oil pastels, dry pastels, pen, pencils and water colours.

Portrait Study (Practical)

CO7: Formulate a series of sketches observing balance, proportions, and light and dark shadows to create the portrait. 

 

CO8: Develop submission showcasing their observational skills of facial features, shadows and highlights from a live model using mediums like dry pastels, charcoal, oil pastels, pen, pencil etc.

 

CO9: Create artwork exemplifying compositional qualities structured on elements and principles while constructing a portrait from a live model.

 

CO10: Justify your skills and composition by displaying your artworks.

 

CO11: Contribute effectively in course- specific interaction.

COURSE CONTENT:

Study of portrait from life, delineation of the structure and the character of head, study of features, study of light and shade, in monochrome and color with drapery at the background in Pencil, Charcoal, Pastels.
