Abhivyakti Ek Prayas
The 19th Annual Art Exhibition- “Abhivyakti Ek Prayas” has been a creative tradition for over a decade and is the culminating event in the artistic calendar of the Department of Visual Arts. It is the main platform for the under graduate and post graduate students of the department. This annual art exhibition is continuing since last 19 years at Jawahar Kala Kendra, Jaipur. This event facilitates interaction of young artists with the world outside and serves to combine their classroom experiences of creative expression with the rare world of arts. The 19th Annual Art Exhibition 2018-19 was again organized at Chaturdik Gallery JKK, Jaipur from 9th February- 12th February, 2019. Students from all the streams like Painting, Applied Arts, Sculpture, Print Making and Photography took participate in the show. Works displayed were in wide range of mediums and techniques including oil paintings, acrylic, tempera, two-dimensional design, Mosaic, mural, mixed media in the field of paintings. Campaign designing, photography (B/W & Coloured), illustration, caricature, typography, etc in applied arts were exhibited. Woodcut, etching, linocut, lithography, intaglio, aqua etc in graphics and print making and sculptures in stone, wood, fibre, metal etc were also there. The inauguration of the show was done by the Guest of Honour Ms. Mugdha Sinha (IAS) Secretary of Government, Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Department, Jaipur, Rajasthan. And Chief Guest was Secretary, Lalit Kala Akademi (NationalAcademy of Art), Ministry of Culture, Government of India, New Delhi. Audiences from various art fields, schools, colleges, art studios, art galleries and people linked with art market enjoyed an impressive body of students’ artworks. In total, 194 students of Department of Visual Arts displayed around and more than 2100 artwork in various fields of art in this year’s exhibition. Dr. Ashok Gupta, Vice-Chancellor, IIS University, congratulated all the participants for their untiring efforts towards putting this exhibition together. Such show introduces them to professional practices they will come across in their field, such as working with a gallery, preparing and then displaying their work for exhibition and engaging in the jurying process that is essential for an emerging artist. This is a necessary component for resume building and establishing themselves as practicing artists once they graduate or transfer to a four-year college.
