The Department of Fine Arts, IIS (Deemed to be University) organised an Orientation session for the new batch students on September 6, 2022, Tuesday. All the faculties along with the BFA and MFA students participated in the orientation programme. The session focused on making new students accustomed to the department's various infrastructure, facilities , associations and activities. In addition, to formally introduce faculties and seniors to newcomers for smooth functioning of the department.
The session began with the formal introduction of all the faculties and their subject specification. Followed by it, Dr. Ujjvala M. Tiwari, Head of Department, explained elaborately about the course structure and departmental facilities at the University through a powerpoint presentation. All the students were made aware about the COSD programmes they can opt for and its examination system. They were informed about each specialisation to choose from along with the overall credit system. Further, various activities conducted throughout the session for the development of skills and knowledge of the students with the student's roles and responsibilities were discussed.
It was also pointed out the importance of research and for that how to access IISU digital library and the process to search for their art specific resources followed by an insight to the National Digital Library of India. Following this, a brief about the annual art exhibition ‘Abhivyakti ek Prayaas’ was also given along with the zest of other competitions and departmental activities. At the last, career opportunities and placements explained for future aspects.
At the end of the session, a short interactive query session was held wherein students expressed their views and cleared their subject specific doubts. This turned out to be informative and effective for guiding as well as motivating students towards attaining success in the field of fine arts. They surely had an in-depth knowledge about the functioning of the department’s curriculum and activities.
