GIF Making Competition on COVID-19

Growth is an aspect which keeps us striving. It is utmost important to grow with the technology and the changing times. Our market is changing continuously along with the target audience preferences. To keep them engaged it is necessary to have come up with interactive media. To inculcate this in our students the Department of Fine Arts organised an activity where the students had to create GIFs.

Under the guidance of Ms. Sheetal Chilangya the Applied arts final year students took part in this. It was conducted from 16 April to 4 June 2020. This gave them an opportunity to explore and learn various softwares to help them create GIFs. For almost everyone it was a completely new media which made it more exciting to work on. It gave an insight into how the market media changes with time and how to design according to the need of the hour. Currently the whole world is talking about Corona. So what else can be a better topic for designing.

Students made GIFs covering all the aspects of Corona and how it is affecting the society, what people are feeling, how to cope up with the mixed feeling everyone is going through. All of them did research on what's going on in the world regarding corona and then came on the decision on what to convey. They even touched the sensitive topics of mental health. GIFS were designed to tell people how to work during these times. They even focused on finding one's passion. The precautionary measures to be taken care of were explained creatively through their GIFs. Some were designed giving regards to the people working for the public. Some of the topics were Not everything needs to be locked down, Unlock love & laughter, today & hereafter, Nothing can stop you from learning #IndiaFightsCorona, IIS (deemed to be University) Salutes Front Line Warriors Fighting Covid-19 with hearts, Find Your Passion: Do what you love the most, Be kind to little animals. This attempt of the students to reach as many people as possible and make them aware of how to handle the situation in hand was a great success. How to use the media in the right manner for the purpose of making people aware and bring them to see these messages was well learnt by all the students involved. These GIFs were uploaded on the instagram page as well as on facebook page of IIS University and Department of Fine Arts.
