Tiger Photograph Exhibition July 27, 2024

Jaipur Tiger Festival with the support of the Forest Department organized a captivating Photography Exhibition capturing the majesty of tigers at Jawahar Kala Kendra, Jaipur from 27th July to 31st July 2024. IIS (Deemed to be University) in collaboration with IKS provided its 33 students with the chance to have experiential learning while visiting the exhibition, allowing them to gain practical skills, and understand photography concepts. They were accompanied by Ms. Manika Sharma and Mr. Vinod Nagar.

The exhibition, themed around tigers and their conservation, showcased an array of stunning photographs taken by photographers from various parts of the world. The exhibition also featured a film about tigers and a virtual reality (VR) experience that allowed visitors to see tigers up close in their natural habitat.

The exhibition was held at the city's main art gallery, featuring photographs that captured the beauty of tigers. Each photograph was accompanied by a brief description of the location, the photographer, and the story behind the shot which we could see by scanning the photographs on their website. The collection highlighted the critical need for tiger conservation and the efforts being made globally to protect these magnificent creatures.

The photographers utilized various angles to capture the essence of the tigers.Shots taken at eye level created an intimate connection between the subject and the viewer, highlighting the tiger's gaze and expressions. The framing and composition of the photographs were meticulously planned to enhance the visual impact.

Many images adhered to the rule of thirds, placing the tiger off-center to create a more dynamic and engaging composition.Photographers used natural elements like trees, rivers, and trails as leading lines to draw the viewer's eye towards the tiger. The use of foreground elements, such as foliage or water, added depth to the photographs. Backgrounds were carefully chosen to complement the tiger and avoid distractions.High-contrast images and silhouettes against vibrant sunsets or dense jungles added a sense of mystery and allure to the photographs. The vibrant colors of the jungle, combined with the tiger's striking patterns, were used to create visually arresting images.

The exhibition also featured a film about a tigress and her cub , which provided insights into their behavior, habitat and their bond. The film's cinematography was notable for its shots capturing the grace and agility of tigers in the wild.

The VR experience was another highlight, offering an immersive journey into the tiger's world. The 360-degree videos allowed us to explore the tiger's environment from a first-person perspective, providing a deeper understanding of their daily life and the importance of conservation efforts.

The visit to the photography exhibition was an invaluable experience for photography students. It provided an opportunity to study the technical and artistic aspects of wildlife photography and learn from the work of seasoned photographers. The emphasis on conservation added a meaningful dimension to the exhibition, reminding us of the role that photography can play in raising awareness. This visit has inspired us to apply these techniques in their own work and contribute to the cause of wildlife conservation through lenses.
